RECORDINGS Kevin's new CD, Catnip, showcases a wide range of Kevin's talents as a guitarist and composer. The recording features works by ten composers from Europe and the Americas, including such notables as Sor, Tarrega, Carulli, J.S. Bach, and the popular Brazilian bossa nova composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. The disc also features three folk songs and a jazz guitar duet, plus three of Hubbard's originals – including the title track, a funky representation of a frisky cat under the influence of catnip that reflects the artist's additional background in jazz, rock and blues. Hear selections from and purchase Catnip Kevin's debut CD, Aspirations, features music from Europe, Latin America and the United States. The recording includes compositions by such notable guitar composers as Sor, Tarrega, Carulli, Carcassi, Giuliani, Ponce, Barrios and Villa-Lobos, as well as transcriptions of works by Mertz, Diabelli, J.S. Bach, and Kevin's arrangement of Ernesto Lecuona's Malagueña. The disc concludes with the title track, a Hubbard original, which reflects the artist's background in playing such other styles as folk, jazz and rock. The sound quality is beautiful and crystal clear, thanks to the technical expertise of recording engineer Forrest Trenholm, and mastering by Dave Locke of J.P. Masters. Since its release, Aspirations has made the playlists of over 60 classical radio stations throughout the USA and Canada. It has been featured on WBZ Radio's highly-rated Jordan Rich Show, the cable TV show Creatively Speaking, and in the March 2005 issue of 20th Century Guitar magazine, where it received a very favorable review. Avenues features another dimension of Kevin's music - his original jazz and rock compositions. This reissue of a 1981 recording finds Kevin playing a hollow-body electric guitar alongside a major league ensemble comprising multi-horn sensation Scott Robinson on saxes and clarinets, highly acclaimed jazz bassist Marshall Wood, and former Tiny Tim drummer Nick Scarmack. Adding extra spice to the project are the sparkling hammered dulcimer sounds of Bentmen founder and leader Bill Desmond, and the dynamic voice of future Peter Wolf vocalist Patty Barkas, who sings the disc's lone vocal number,"Why? Why Not?" Hear selections from and purchase Avenues
